Leigh Lightner, LGMFT
Leigh Lightner is a life-long learner and educator. After 22 years as a teacher, trainer, and project coordinator, Leigh has become a Licensed Graduate Marriage and Family Therapist. She works with couples, families, and individuals and enjoys collaborating with clients who may be experiencing behavioral issues, depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationships challenges, PTSD, self-esteem, or trauma.
Leigh also enjoys working with teens and young adults experiencing life’s challenges as they develop their own individuality and prepare for adulthood. Her curiosity and openness support her ability and enjoyment of working with diverse cultural backgrounds, couples, families, individuals, adolescents, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Leigh’s main goals for the therapy process are to create an empathetic, safe, and authentic space for couples, families, or individuals to grow and work collaboratively in finding their strengths and abilities to live life to its fullest. She aims to foster self-awareness, build insight and perspective understanding, develop tools to navigate life’s challenges, and create meaningful and sustainable change. Working from a Narrative Therapy model, everyone has their own story, and she takes pride in helping couples, families, and individuals discover their own narrative and reconstruct stories for a positive living experience. By incorporating Attachment based theory and emotion driven, clients could understand how early childhood experiences can contribute to their stories and interactions with others.
